About the Spaulding Institute

Spaulding for Children has a rich tradition of being able to identify gaps in services and the unmet needs of children, families and communities and the vision to respond creatively (and often times just logically) to these issues. The development of The Spaulding Institute for Family and Community Development is a natural and logical extension of this tradition and visionary thinking.

During the last decade, Spaulding for Children increased its reputation for outreach services throughout the nation by providing state of the art training programs and products in special needs adoption, cultural competency and post adoption services. In our vision for “2000 and Beyond” the agency proposed to ambitiously expand its capacity to reach an even larger audience through:

1) innovative partnerships and collaborations,
2) development of products that reach diverse communities, and
3) the utilization of creative venues for disseminating information.

The Strategic Plan specifically identified several means of increasing its customer base including the use of technology to deliver services and distribute products. Interactive capability, such as Web-based training, was cited as a means for enhancing the agency’s capacity to deliver training and technical assistance.
